We also have a tradition of building gingerbread houses either on thanksgiving or the day after. This year we did it the day after because we forgot to get the stuff to make them. We ended up going out Friday afternoon to get our supplies then began building as soon as we got home and put Aviendha down for a nap. It took us till about 10 that night to finish. Aviendha had more candy that night than she did on Halloween and we knew it. Toward the end she was sitting in a chair nearby holding her head and just screaming and screaching in absolute glee over and over again. We were pretty stunned. She was literally bouncing off the walls, or rather everything around her. I can only imagine what that might do to a kid who does that normally!!! She was running from one part of the house to the other, up on chairs, into walls, and in circles. Unfortunately the video camera wasn't available so that is a disappointment. However, I come bringing the fruits of our labor. Can you guess which one is mine and which one is Nick's?

Here we have the leaning tower of sugar induced coma. It has a nice set of shiny double doors, a stone patio, and a little room coming out the side up above. Rapunzel was considered as a guest for the room but the maker decided the hair would be too much effort (or rather not worth it...).

Here we have the rear entrance of the tower with a classy pretzel door for those wishing to escape whatever lies inside. What tower would be complete without what appear to be traffic lights for any...heavy....traffic?...coming in....the back door?...
Next we have the triple decker house of boredom.

This house sports a festive fence and a fabulous archway entrance. Christmas lights give it just the right touch.

What kind of house would be complete without two snowmen complete with candy faces and pretzel arms? Also that stone walkway looks pretty homey and charming. But again, as I said earlier, fairly boring.
So the question is: Which house belongs to who?

I think they are both fantastic. I am going to say nicks was the leaning tower and yours the beautiful 3 story house... Neat tradition. I know we could never do it.. Dan would eat the candy before we could put it together.. hehe.
My first thought is also the leaning tower in Nicks. Most guys seem to have a need to make things as tall and big as possible!
They are both fantastic!! I love the "sugar induced coma's"! I don't have the patience to mess around with that much frosting or candy.... Tim and Tekara would eat half the candy before it made it on to!
Avienda's sugar high seems to compare to Corbin's cabin fever of being trapped in this little apt. He's driving me crazy destorying things!!! AHHGGG!
I think the first is Nicks and the second is yours. We're probably all wrong though. Let us know soon!
Wow, I'm impressed! Those are both really good! I'm going with everyone else on the guess of whose is whose.
I'm going to have to agree with everybody previous and say Nick's is the leaning tower, and yours the more "traditional". Maybe I have seen one of Nick's "creations" more recently than your other viewers, but the reason I KNOW is because it is COVERED in the sugary-glue stuff to hold it up. Yours, you can actually see the gingerbread. Also, the traffic signal in the back is a dead give-away. I know how he operates. :) Even if I knew none of these things, and there were no pictures, I would be able to tell by the way you described them! You are so funny, and so seriously undercredit your beautiful house! In any event, they are both WAY better than I could do. Awesome work, guys!
Matt says "Its obvious that the tall one is Nick's!" I think they both look so fun but LOTS of work!!
I would also have to agree that the 1st is Nicks. After hearing about building forts in our old basement and breaking out the old grape juice jars and all, I could see him pushing it to the limit with sugar and candy just to see if it would actually stay up!!Good thing it has about 2 lbs of sugar!
I think with most of us in the Family having a neat freak, perfectionist personality, the second I would say is yours. Now because we all think the obvious it's probably backwards!! Either way they are both seriously sweet (literally) looking houses!! We don't do ours until the 2nd week in Dec. I don't like the dust that gathers and turns everything gray! :)
